WINTHROP — Maine writer Andrew Vietze will discuss his latest book, “Becoming Teddy Roosevelt,” at the Bailey Public Library on Tuesday, March 15.

The book explores the formative relationship between the young Theodore Roosevelt and his back-country mentor, William Wingate Sewall of Island Falls, Maine.

Former managing editor of Down East Magazine and current Maine Guide, Vietze works as a full-time writer and spends six months a year as a seasonal ranger in the wilds of Baxter State Park.

The author of five books, he has been published widely in such periodicals as Weather.com’s Forecast Earth, Time Out New York, AMC Outdoors, Maine Times, Offshore, Explore, Crawdaddy! and American Songwriter.

Vietze’s talk will begin at  6:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 377-8673.
