AUBURN — Decorating one’s home to suit every member of the family will be the topic at the Monday, March 7, meeting of the Auburn Art Club. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Park Street.
Jean Ness is chairwoman of the meeting, assisted by Evelyn Larrabee, Alda Reynolds, Carol Woodard and Fern Desjardin, all of Auburn.
The speaker will be Lynne Maxfield-Cole, interior designer and expert in universal design. She calls universal design “a broad-spectrum approach that combines traditional design principals with mandated American for Disabilities Act compliance.”
The result of such design means the needs of every member of the family will be addressed. That may include a senior aging in place, a person injured in a sports accident and a family member with a long-term disability.
A power point presentation will provide background, statistics, pictures and products to illustrate Maxfield-Cole’s subject.
Maxfield-Cole founded her company, Decorating Plus, in 1984, with offices in Auburn and Gray. Her work has been published in several national home decorating magazines and she has a statewide guest speaking schedule.
She and her husband are nationally certified downhill ski instructors for the handicapped, volunteering at Sunday River and in Snowmass, Colo.
Bonnie Ross of Auburn is president of the Auburn Art Club.
