NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association held its annual ice fishing derby on Feb. 26 and 27. The winners were as follows.
Brook trout/splake: Jason Prescott, 19 inches, 3 lbs. 1 oz.; lake trout: Howard Goldrup, 26 inches, 5 lbs. 1 oz.; rainbow trout: Louis Senecal, 17 1/4 inches, 2 lbs. 2 oz.; bass: Kadence Allen, 20 1/2 inches, 5 lbs.; salmon: John Ames, 18 inches, 2 lbs. 9 oz.; pickerel: Dan Mosley, 22 1/4 inches, 3 lbs. 3 oz.
In the junior category, Brooke Allen won with a pickerel that was 22 1/4 inches long and weighed 2 lbs. 15oz., while Louis Senecal won the other species category with a 28 3/4 inch, 6 lbs. 13 oz. cusk.
The raffle winners were: L.L.Bean fly rod, Dave Abbott of West Paris; Oxford 250 tickets, Floyd Pike, Stoneham; camping at Black Brook Cove Campground, Sam Giles, Norway; a stay at Dad’s Trailside B&B in Solon, Ken Grant, Oxford; a dozen streamer flies, Tony DeBurra, Poland, and Mike Lawrence, Auburn; Jet Sledd, L&E Quebec, Sumner; L.L. Bean backpack, Russ Teague, Oxford; L.L.Bean cap, Don Thayer, Oxford; Melby’s Market gift certificates, John Hatch, Hebron, James Ventreses, Norway, and Ryan Lippincott, Norway.
Every year the club uses money raised at the derby to sponsor local children to attend the University of Maine 4-H Camp & Learning Center, Bryant Pond.
