AUBURN — The third annual Hospice House 5K Race and Remembrance Walk will take place on Sunday, May 22, at Central Maine Community College.
Net proceeds will benefit the KMW Fund of AHCH, which supports care for patients with limited or no health insurance at the Hospice House.
This year’s event will include a certified 5K race, walk, kid’s fun run and raffle items. Participants will also hear music performed by local musicians throughout the morning.
Special additions to the 2011 event will be remembrance balloons inscribed with the names of loved ones. They will line the race route and be incorporated into event decorations. Balloons may be dedicated for $5 each by anyone interested.
Event day registration and check-in will be at 7:30 a.m. at CMCC. The walk will be held at 9, run begins at 10 and the kids’ fun run will be held at 11.
Following the kids’ fun run, recognition will be given to the individual or team that raises the most money to support hospice care and the team with the most members participating. Awards will also be presented to the top runners in specific age groups and the walking teams.
Preregistration for all activities (including the kids’ fun run) is encouraged. Event fee is $15 until Friday, April 1, for the race and walk, $20 until Saturday, May 21, and $25 the day of the event. There is no fee for the kids’ fun run. Event T-shirts will be given to the first 125 paid registrants for either the race or the remembrance walk.
Registration forms are available at AHCH Lewiston office on Strawberry Avenue, at the Hospice House on 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, the Medicine Shoppe, Baxter Brewing Co. and at many other area businesses.
