JAY — The School Committee will consider eliminating two positions at its meeting Thursday as a result of changes in local conditions.

Superintendent Bob Wall recommends that one elementary school technology integrator post be eliminated, effective Aug. 31. The second position he recommends eliminating is the middle and high schools alternative education educational technician.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. April 7 at the middle school library.

Wall said during presentation of a proposed 2011-12 budget for Regional School Unit 73, which includes Jay and RSU 36, that teachers should be able to handle incorporating technology into the classroom.

Regional School Unit 73 begins operating July 1.

RSU 36 Superintendent Sue Pratt said Thursday that that Board of Directors will also consider eliminating three to four positions and some transfers at its meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Cedar Street Learning Center in Livermore Falls.
