AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St.

Leonard L. Brooks, director of the Shaker Museum and Shaker Library at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village since 1988, will present an illustrated talk on “The Sabbathday Lake Shakers and the Rickers of the Poland Spring Hotel: A Scrapbook History.” Two of the better known names in our region are the Shakers and Poland Spring. Little is known however of the nearly 160 year long special relationship between the Sabbathday Lake Shakers and the Ricker family, founders of Poland Spring. Brooks will use archival photos and materials to tell the story of the two fabled Maine names.

Hospitality for the meeting will be provided by Maureen Tibbetts and Marilyn Wilkinson. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.
