NEW VINEYARD — A local man is facing domestic violence charges, among others, after he was accused of following a man and woman to a house, striking the woman’s vehicle with his own and assaulting the other man, police said.

Douglas Marble, 32, was arrested Sunday on charges of a violation of a protection from abuse order and domestic violence reckless conduct, Maine State Police Trooper Joshua Birmingham said Monday.

Marble was also issued two summonses on charges of assault and reckless conduct against the man, Birmingham said.

Marble denied all charges Monday. He also disagreed with the state police’s version of the incident.

“I am innocent,” Marble, the administrative assistant for the town of Kingfield, said.

“The charges stem from Marble following the man and woman to the man’s house where he acted in a reckless and dangerous manner by hitting the woman’s vehicle with his own vehicle,” Birmingham said. “Marble then assaulted the other involved male.”

Marble was also issued two summonses on civil violations of possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said Monday.

Yeaton said the Sheriff’s Department assisted Birmingham looking for a vehicle that ultimately turned out to be driven by Marble.

Deputy B. David Rackliffe stopped the vehicle and secured it. His police dog sniffed around the vehicle and did indicate drugs inside, Yeaton said. A usable amount of marijuana was located, which is a civil violation and not a criminal charge, he said.

Marble was released on $500 cash bail on the criminal charges on Sunday. He is scheduled to appear April 22 in Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington. He has a court date on the civil violation of June 23 in Farmington District Court.

Kingfield select board Chairwoman Heather Moody was not available for comment Tuesday.
