FARMINGTON — A New Vineyard man faces multiple charges in two counties after police say he confessed Thursday to a string of thefts and burglaries including one at Titcomb Mountain Ski Area early April 6.

Police say they have recovered most of the stolen items in a multi-agency cooperative effort.

Maine State Police Trooper Joshua Birmingham said he arrested Casey M. Wilbur, 22, on Thursday on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and a charge of burglary in connection to breaking into a camp in Industry and stealing a Kawasaki ATV worth approximately $6,000.

Casey is accused of driving a stolen Arctic Cat Prowler, which was taken from an outbuilding at Titcomb Mountain, to Industry where he stashed it and took the Kawasaki back to New Vineyard, he said.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Cpl. Ken Charles and Birmingham interviewed Casey and he ended up confessing to the string of thefts and burglaries,” Birmingham said.

Farmington police Detective Marc Bowering said he issued Wilbur several summonses on Thursday at the Franklin County jail on charges of three counts of theft, one count of burglary and one count of unauthorized use of property.

“We recovered pretty much everything that was stolen,” Bowering said.

Recovered were the Artic Cat Prowler, a laptop computer and two chainsaws taken from Titcomb Mountain and pretty much everything that was taken from the Northern Lights shop located at the ski area, he said. Those items included power tools.

Police also recovered a three-wheeler stolen from Madore’s Market in West Farmington and a pickup truck stolen from Front Street in Farmington, Bowering said.

Wilbur was released from jail Thursday on $5,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear on May 20 at Franklin County District Court

Wilbur also faces charges in Somerset County, Bowering said.

Farmington police recovered four of five firearms that were stolen from an Anson residence two weeks ago, Bowering said.

Police received tips on the case that led to the arrest.

“It couldn’t have been done without citizens’ help and witnesses coming forward and Cpl. Ken Charles and Trooper Josh Birmingham,” he said.

Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Ross said he charged Wilbur by summons on Tuesday on charges of burglary and theft in connection to a burglary on April 2 near the Greenleaf Road in Anson.
