DEAR SUN SPOTS: The time for high school graduation is near and there are homeless graduates who cannot afford to buy a cap and gown. Do any of the high schools have a plan for reusing the caps and gowns? We did that several years ago with our daughter’s. Thank you. — E.E. via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find any mention of reusing caps and gowns, but it’s an excellent idea. Maybe previous grads could offer up theirs?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you tell me what year Gov. Paul LePage graduated from Lewiston High School? He is not listed in the LHS Alumni directory, and his Web page only states that he graduated from LHS. Several people have asked me if he was in their graduating class.

Also, can you tell us if he was a “traditional” full-time student, or did he graduate via adult education or night-school classes? Thank you for your help. — J.M., Sabattus

ANSWER: Sun Spots finally got an answer to this question with help from political reporter Steve Mistler. He said that according to LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett, LePage graduated in 1967. She could not say if he was a traditional student or not. Time to break out the yearbooks!
