AUBURN — The Maine Association for Infant Mental Health will hold its annual conference, Children and Babies with Mood Swings, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 6, at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Ira Glovinsky, Ph.D., psychologist and author, will discuss how moods emerge and develop in young children, how to identify when self-regulation is getting off-course and specific strategies to support babies and their families.
Glovinsky’s background includes work in neonatal intensive care, early intervention and autism spectrum disorders. He is the co-author of “Bipolar Patterns in Children” and “Children and Babies with Mood Swings.”
In addition to Glovinsky’s presentation, a panel comprised of a preschool teacher, pediatrician, home visitor and clinician will discuss how — together and within their individual settings — they can support babies with mood swings and their parents. Cathy Jacobs, host of Baby Talk, WERU FM Community Radio and Program Manager, Hancock County Maine Families, will moderate the panel.
Preregistration is required by Friday, April 29. For more information and/or to register, visit www.infantmentalhealth.org or contact Debra Nugent Johnston at 375-8184 or [email protected].
