AUBURN — Clement H. Gauthier, 89, of Lewiston, passed away on April 23 at the Hospice House.

Clement was born Feb. 23, 1922, the son of Alfred Gauthier and Felixin Pauquette.

He spent many hours picking wild blueberries, strawberries and fiddleheads. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. Clement also loved rocking his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family gatherings.

Clement worked in lumber camps. He worked many years for the Carpenters Union in Connecticut and Maine building bridges, hospitals, homes, and schools and was an excellent finish carpenter.

Clement is survived by his wife, Bernice; two sisters, Evelyn Grimmel and Margret and husband, Claude Panadis; two brothers, Rosaire and wife, Lucia, Gauthier, Victor and wife, Mary, Gauthier; four daughters, Rachel Gauthier, Janice Sargent, Susan and husband, Philip Bizier and Judy Michaud; six sons, Donald Gauthier, Richard and wife, Cindy, Gauthier, Maurice and wife, Carolyn, Gauthier, Philip Gauthier, Gerry and wife, Robin, St. Pierre, Claude and Lil St. Pierre; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Angie Colgan, Yoland LaMontagne and Rose Nadeau; and three brothers, Florian Gauthier, Gabriel Gauthier and Marcel Gauthier.
