FORT WALTON BEACH, FLA. — Ernest Dube, 79, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, April 20.

He was born in Livermore Falls, Oct. 6, 1931, a son of the late Joseph T. Dube and Leila Eichel Dube. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, he and his family spent many years abroad. He was a military police officer and in later years became a recruiter.

After his military retirement, he became a correctional counselor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In his retirement, he had over 20,000 hours of volunteer service for the Eglin Air Force Base Commissary.

He enjoyed baseball and the Republican party. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a dedicated public servant.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carole Gardner Dube of Fort Walton Beach; two daughters, Jayne Cawthon and her husband, Gary of Washington and Jill Dube-Gilley and her husband, Danny of Arkansas; two grandsons, Shawn Cawthon and Hunter Gilley; one granddaughter, Holly Gilley; and one brother, John Dube and his wife, Celia of Rumford.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, George Dube.
