LEWISTON — Mary A. Rice, 75, of Lewiston died April 23, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 9, 1935, a daughter of Willard and Ruth (Alden) Allen. She lived her whole life in the Lewiston-Auburn area and graduated from Edward Little High School. On Dec. 1, 1954, she married the love of her life, Harold Rice, who passed away in 1978. Besides being a great homemaker for her husband and children, she also worked as a baker in the Sabattus Elementary School for eight years, and in retail until she retired. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great love of music and was a huge fan of the Statler Brothers.
She is survived by her five children, Gary Rice and his wife, Marsha of Minot, Debra Rioux and her husband, Paul, of Monmouth, Donna Rioux and her husband, Patrick, of Monmouth, Penny Marquis of Lewiston, David Rice and his wife, Patricia, of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Everett, Curtis, Angela, Candace, Timothy, Jason, Diana, Amanda, Natasha, and Loretta; and 11 great-grandchildren; and her cat, Tinker.
She was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Harold Rice; her parents; two sisters, Carolyn Moyes and Katherine Allen; and her half brother, Wallace Allen.
