BETHEL — Eric Fenstermacher scattered five hits and drew plenty of run support as Dirigo hustled to a 5-1 victory over Telstar in an MVC baseball tilt Wednesday.

The Rebels (1-1) were up 1-0 after two innings before the Cougars (2-0) moved ahead with a pair of runs in the third. Ben Holmes had two hits and one RBI for Dirigo, while Caleb Turner also belted a pair of hits.

Ben Field led Telstar at bat with a home run in the second inning.

Jay 12, Mt. Abram 9

LIVERMORE FALLS — Bill Calden and Lucas Preble ignited an eight-run sixth inning for Jay that propelled the Tigers to a 12-9 victory over Mt. Abram in an MVC baseball matchup Wednesday.

The Tigers (2-1) trailed by four runs (5-9) after five innings before revving up the offense in the sixth. Scott Hall and Eli Capen also contributed with two hits apiece.

The Roadrunners (0-1) had the game in hand until the defense fell flat in the sixth. Dan Beede was tagged with the loss after working the entire game.

Gray-NG 8, York 4

YORK — Ryan Cavallaro belted a three-run home run in the eighth inning to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 8-4 victory over York in an WMC baseball tilt Wednesday.

York jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first frame. With two outs in the top of the seventh while down 4-2, GNG’s Heath Martel connected on an 0-1 fastball to deep center for a two-run home run, scoring Ben Verrill to tie the game at 4-4.

The Patriots were not quite finished, as Kyle Nielsen opened the eighth frame with a double to left-center. Nielsen then scored what would be the winning run on a single by Justin McKenna.

Oak Hill 6, Rockland 2

WALES — Josh Martin scattered four hits and struck out 12 batters to lead Oak Hill to a 6-2 victory over Rockland in a KVAC baseball matchup Wednesday.

Martin helped his own cause at the plate with two hits and one RBI for the Raiders (2-1), while Ben Dyer belted out two hits with two RBIs.

Joe Nelson led Rockland (2-1) with two hits and two RBIs.

Mountain Valley 10, Madison 5

MADISON — Izaak Mills smashed a three-run homer in the fourth inning to break open a 6-4 contest to help lead Mountain Valley to a 10-5 victory over Madison in a Mountain Valley Conference baseball clash.

The Falcons (2-0) jumped on the board with three runs in the top half of the first, highlighted by a Brandon Jacques two-run homer.

Madison evened the score with three of its own. Tied 4-4 in the fourth inning, Mills reached on an error followed by a Cam Kaubris single. Jacques knocked in his third run of the game with a single and Colin Merrill’s sacrifice fly put Mountain Valley up by a pair.

Mills earned the victory on the mound pitching three innings for the Falcons.

Edward Little 4, Morse 1

AUBURN — Junior Luke Farrago struck out 10 to lead Edward Little to a 4-1 victory over Morse in KVAC baseball action.

The right-hander only gave up a pair of singles, going the distance to earn his second victory of the young season.

Cam Ivers paced the Eddies (3-1) with a pair of singles. Josh DeLong also ripped a double and scored a run in the victory.

Morse’s Zack Groat connected for the two singles for the Shipbuilders (1-3).

St. Dom’s 8, Boothbay 3

BOOTHBAY — Four different pitchers surrendered only three runs on three hits while striking out 12 Boothbay batters to lead St. Dom’s to an 8-3 victory in an MVC baseball clash.

Leading 1-0, St. Dom’s put five runs up on the board in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Danny Nadeau. Nadeau later scored on a double by Joe Bryant to pull away for the victory. Will Desmarais collected his second hit of the game with a two-run single in the seventh inning to round out the scoring.

Jimmy Theriault, relieved by Al Parker, Kurt Johnson, and Chris Tarr, earned the victory on the mound for the Saints (1-0).

Gardiner 8, Oak Hill 3

WALES — Leading 3-0 at the half, Gardiner tallied five second half goals on their way to an 8-3 victory over Oak Hill in boys’ lacrosse action.

Gardiner’s Dalton Eldridge led all scorers with four goals while Caleb Smith added a pair of scores. Keegan Smith and Justin Lovely each added a goal for the Tigers (3-0). Oak Hill got a pair of second half goals from Nate Ralston and a goal and an assist from John Averill. Gardiner outshot the Raiders (0-2), 24-10.

Walter Bailey earned the victory in net for Gardiner making a pair of saves while Will Aronson turned away ten shots for Oak Hill.
