LEWISTON — James L. Fletcher, 55, passed away peacefully on May 2, after a long illness, surrounded by family and close friends.

Jim was born in Portland, March 18, 1956 to William and Norma Fletcher. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army National Guard. On Aug. 12, 1989, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Sheila Hutchinson.

He was an over the road truck driver — a job he took great pride in and loved dearly. He enjoyed taking his dog for long walks with his wife and daughter. Kaila’s friends always brought a smile to his face. Jim loved listening to the “blues” while getting lost in a good book.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sheila of Lewiston; his daughter, Kaila and fiance, Brandon Harris, of Auburn; a son, James Rodney of Portland; his father, William Fletcher of South Portland; grandson, Owen Harris of Auburn; mother-in-law, Frances Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Adam Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Emily Dow and her husband, Reginald Dow, all of Linneus; also two nieces; and three nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Norma Fletcher; stepmother, Patricia Fletcher; and an infant daughter.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Central Maine Medical Center for all their care and kindness they gave to Jim over the past year and a half. It was greatly appreciated by his family.
