LEWISTON — Rita E. Spencer, 89, of Lewiston, died on May 2, at d’Youville Pavilion, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on April 11, 1922, in Auburn, the daughter of Joseph and Eva Potvin. Upon her retirement, Rita traveled extensively with her companion, Edward for 18 years, having visited Indonesia, Philippines and Hong Kong. They then returned to Lewiston, where they were long-time residents.

She was a member of Holy Family Church. Of her many interests, Rita especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs and she also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Jacques of Greene and Patricia and husband, Andrew Costello, of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Clifford ‘Bud’ Spencer of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Rob, Joseph Jacques, Christopher and wife, Emily Costello and Kevin Costello of Georgia; and several nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Gail Spencer; sisters, Germaine Potvin and Anita Morton; and her loving companion, Edward Royal.
