PARIS — An Oxford man was charged with attacking a woman and taking her purse over the weekend.

Matthew McAllister, 25, of 250 Webberbrook Road in Oxford was charged with theft, aggravated assault and violation of bail condition in the incident on Saturday night.

According to an arrest report by officer Raymond Paar of the Paris Police Department, the alleged victim, who is 22, was bleeding from the nose and ear when he responded to a call. She told Paar that McAllister had head-butted her in the nose then slapped her in the ear after a verbal argument.

She told Paar that when she tried to get away from McAllister, he took her purse with her keys and cellphone. She said McAllister told her the head-butting was an accident caused when he tripped.

Paar wrote that the woman was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital, where a doctor diagnosed her with a perforated eardrum. X-rays were also taken to determine whether her nose was broken.

McAllister, who was arrested Sunday afternoon, is being held on $2,500 cash bail. His arraignment is set for July 7.
