AUBURN — Team Willis started its Auburn Suburban Little League major division baseball season with two wins this week.

Willis outscored East Auburn, 12-5, in a total team effort. Ben Cassidy pitched well for East Auburn. Willis used Cole Butler, Ethan Brown, Nick Hathaway and Austin Brown to share pitching duties for the win.

In the second win, Willis edged Austin Associates, 12-1. Caleb Hebert pitched well for Willis. Race Bouchard sparked the offense with a two-run, first-inning triple.

Pepsi opened the ASLL majors season with a 16-3 win over HWD. Gavin Bates, CJ Jipson, Eli McBride and a home run by Jarod Norcross-Plourde paced Pepsi with the bats. Pepsi also had doubles from Conner Jackson and Ryan Kapplemann. HWD had hits from Isaac Dumont, Joshua Pelletier and Hunter Knowlton.

In minor baseball, Team ENEFCO had a super opening game with a great effort in a 12-8 loss to Pat’s Pizza.

Jacob Willette, R.J. Nichols and Chase Martin led ENEFCO at the plate. In the field, Harry Bigos-Lowe, Michael Potvin and Matthew Scholer turned in some great plays.

Elliot Ave.

LEWISTON — Rowe Ford started the Elliot Ave. Little League major baseball season with a win over a scrappy Elite Auto team on Tuesday.

Jordyn Rubin earned the victory, pitching two strong innings. Hits by Isaac Atkins, Jordan Crowley and Tyson Green paced the patient Rowe offense. Elite was led by Joshua Randall, Josh Roy, Kelsie Lynch and Andon Cox.

Melanson Paving kicked off its major campaign with a 3-0 victory over Skelton, Tainter & Abbott.

Clay Crafts delivered a two-out bases loaded double in the third to plate all the runs the pavers would need.

K.J. Edwards pitched brilliantly, striking out 13 batters in a complete-game effort. Kyle Morin added a double and a triple, while Dalton Wing and Wyatt Miller added hits as well.

Ben Chasse let the offense for Skelton with a double. Nick Poland pitched well for the attorneys, striking out nine along the way.

South Lewiston

LEWISTON — South Lewiston Little League is hosting a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth. Competitors ages 7 to 14 (as of July 17) have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2011 MLB All-Star Game.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running champions, along with the All-Around champion for boys and for girls in each age groups 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14, will be awarded. Winners will advance to the Sectional level of competition to be held at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.
