During the past two weeks, boys in the two cities have become greatly interested in the open track meet, which is to be held under the direction of F. Forest Pease on Garcelon field one week from today.

Not for a long time, if ever before in the history of the two cities, has such an event as an open meet designed especially for all the youth of the two cities taken place. Intended at first as an interclub meet in which the boys taking part should represent their various fraternal orders, it was found more desirable to throw the affair open to every boy and youth in the two cities.

A new city seal, substance abuse and the annual planting of a city tree were on the minds of Edward Little High School students Monday as they discussed their annual resolutions during the regular City Council meeting.

The shoes adorning the current city seal is a theme that’s outdated, according to senior Sean Noel. “What was appropriate 117 years ago is not necessarily appropriate today,” he said. “I feel as if Auburn is changing, so should the symbol of the city.”

But the student legislators felt that the slogan, “Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum” which translates to “Never Step Backward,” is still appropriate.
