PARIS — A man accused of breaking into an Oxford home and stealing property this week had his bail set at $100,000 Friday.
Scott P. Bowie, 35, of 86 Fore St., Oxford, did not enter a plea to charges of burglary and theft Friday at an initial hearing in 11th District Court. Attorney Maurice Porter, who was representing in-custody defendants, said it would be best to wait until Bowie spoke with his own attorney.
Another person believed to be involved in the burglary has been questioned by police, Sgt. Rickie Jack of the Oxford Police Department said Friday.
“That person has become very cooperative in the investigation, which has helped us tremendously,” Jack said. He did not identify the person and said the department has not yet decided whether to bring charges.
On Thursday, Bowie appeared in Oxford County Superior Court to answer a charge of failure to appear Wednesday for a docket call on charges of burglary, domestic violence assault, obstructing report of a crime, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and criminal mischief.
The charges of burglary and theft brought Thursday were in connection with a break-in on Robinson Hill Road in Oxford on Tuesday. A resident reported two people taking items from a neighbor’s home and loading them into a van. When police came across the van in Paris, the driver crashed it into a tree on Paris Hill Road and its two occupants ran into the woods.
Police found items taken from the Oxford home inside. A 9 mm handgun and ammunition reported stolen have not been recovered.
Oxford police haven’t revealed how the burglary was connected to Bowie.
