LIVERMORE FALLS — Brandon Hodges belted a solo home run and tagged out the tying run on an attempted sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to lead Livermore Falls to a 1-0 victory over Mountain Valley in an MVC baseball game Friday.

Hodges, who had two of the Andies’ three hits, provided the only fireworks when he slugged a solo shot to left center with one out in the fourth inning.

Then in the sixth inning, Hodges took a strike from left fielder Hunter Brett to tag out a Mountain Valley runner attempting to score on a fly ball to protect the one-run lead for the Andies (2-5).

Brian Maurais fired a three-hitter and fanned six for the complete-game win. Izaak Mills also allowed three hits and fanned four for Mountain Valley.

Rangeley 10, Buckfield 0

RANGELEY — Jordan Richard fired a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 12 to lead Rangeley to a 10-0 victory over Buckfield in an EWC contest Friday.

The Lakers (1-2) scored five runs in the first inning and added five more in the fourth to force the 10-run mercy rule.

Richard and Zeke Hall led Rangeley with three hits apiece.Regan Sargent, Eric White, Carl Searles and Daren Jannace added two hits apiece.

Dalton Hart took the loss for Buckfield (2-1).

Dirigo 7, Jay 1

DIXFIELD — Caleb Turner’s RBI single started a four-run eruption in the sixth inning that broke the game open and gave unbeaten Dirigo a 7-1 triumph over Jay in an MVC baseball game.

After scratching out single runs in the first three innings, Dirigo held a 3-1 lead entering the pivotal sixth inning. Ben Holmes followed Turner’s key hit with an RBI double to continue the onslaught.

Holmes and Spencer Ross led the Cougars (5-0) with two douibles apiece, while Cody St. Germain added a pair of singles. T.J. Frost also had a double.

Holmes picked up the win with a six-hitter and he fanned seven. Eric Capen struck out six for the Tigers.

Jake Bessey had two hits for Jay (3-2).

Telstar 12, Mt. Abram 2

BETHEL — Telstar pounded out 19 hits, including six doubles to roll to a 12-2 victory over Mt. Abram in an MVC baseball game.

Winning pitcher Kyle Peterson surrendered all four hits in the fourth inning, when the Roadrunners scored their runs. Peterson retired Mt. Abram 1-2-3 in every other inning.

Corey Howard led the Rebels (5-1) with two doubles, while T.J. O’Connor, Dan Whitney, Casey Thornton and Nick Mills each hit a double. Howard, Ben Field and Drew Wilson had three hits apiece.

Parker Kennedy hit a double for Mt. Abram.

St. Dom’s 18, Winthrop 8

AUBURN — Eight consecutive singles followed by Brady Whetzel’s two-run double allowed St. Dom’s to finish with a flourish. The Saints scored nine runs in the sixth inning and ended the game one inning early with an 18-8 triumph over Winthrop.

The game was tied 8-8 in the fifth when St. Dom’s (4-) surged ahead on Jimmy Theriault’s sacrifice fly that plated Joe Bryant with the eventual winning run. Whetzel than provided the final blow when his two-run double an inning later provided the 10-run margin to signal the mercy rule.

Bryant and Drew Gosselin had three hits each for the Saints, while Theriault, Alex Parker and Will Desnarais had two hits apiece. Bryant picked up the win in relief for the Saints.

Ryan Conant and Travis Luce both hit two-run singles for Winthrop (1-2).

Oak Hill 7, Belfast 2

BELFAST — Craig Morrill and Josh martin had four hits apeice and Brady Dionne homered late to give Oak Hill a 7-2 triumph over Belfast in a KVAC baseball game Friday.

Oak Hill (4-2) was clinging to a 3-2 advantage when Dionne led off the sixth with a solo home run to provide some breathing room. Oak Hill then started the seventh with four consecutive hits that led to three insurance runs.

Morrill, Martin and Sam Morin all hit doubles for the Raiders. Pitcher Ben Dyer scattered six hits and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings for the win.

Winston Simark had three hits, including a home run for Belfast (2-4).

Lewiston 11, Messalonskee 4

OAKLAND — Junior center fielder Corbin Hyde launched a pair of home runs to power Lewiston to an 11-4 victory over Messalonskee in KVAC baseball action Friday.

Corbin Hyde went 3-for-3 and plated six of the Blue Devils’ 11 runs. Mekae Hyde also contributed three hits for the Blue Devils (6-1), all of the single variety.

Junior shortstop Sam Dexter mustered three hits, including a double for the Eagles (3-5). Dexter also plated two of Messalonskee’s four runs in the losing effort.

Leavitt 9, Maranacook 8

TURNER — In his first varsity start, sophomore left fielder Brian Bedard recorded three hits and scored the game-winning run on a passed ball as Leavitt stung Maranacook 9-8 in KVAC baseball action Friday.

The Hornets (2-4) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. But, the Black Bears (3-3) worked their way back to an 8-6 lead after six innings.

Timmy Dow tied the game in the bottom of the seventh for the Hornets on a double. Jake Ouellette also contributed three hits for Leavitt in the winning effort.

Cape Elizabeth 3, Poland 0

CAPE ELIZABETH — Catcher Kyle Danielson had two hits to lead Cape Elizabeth to a 3-0 victory over Poland in WMC baseball action Friday.

Danielson laced a single to center field in the first inning to plate the Caper’s (4-0) first run. Chris Tinsman, the designated hitter, produced an infield single to plate the second run.

Freshman third baseman Kaleb Bridgham collected a pair of hits for the Knights (1-7) in the losing effort.

Wiscasset 7, Lisbon 3

WISCASSET — Mason Brewer struck out 10 for a complete game win as Wiscasset subdued Lisbon 7-3 in MVC baseball action Friday.

The Redskins (3-2) struck early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jason Weatherbee collected two RBIs with a double in the third inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Dalton Dunphy had a hit and two RBIs for the Greyhounds (1-4), while Mason Smith chipped in with a hits and scored twice.

Gray-NG 8, Fryeburg 7

FRYEBURG — Aaron Boulos and Jeff Taylor sparked a four run second inning as Gray-New Gloucester eventually held on for an 8-7 triumph over Fryeburg in WMC baseball action Friday.

The Patriots scored first when Tim Lerette tripled to deep center and crossed the plate on a Heath Martell single. Martell came around to score on Ryan Cavallaro’s RBI double.

The Raiders threatened with four runs int he bottom of the seventh, keyed by a two-out two-run home run by Colby Locke. But, Gray-New Gloucester had successfully added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the frame.
