LEWISTON — Jean-Claude Chamaillard passed away on May 5, from a long courageous fight with cancer.
He was born Sept. 21, 1938, in Chatillion sur Loire, France, the son of the late Emile and Eugenie (Murgault) Chamaillard. He served in the French Army in North Africa from 1959 to 1961. He then went to Canada, where he cooked in diverse restaurants from Montreal and Toronto and throughout New England. He spent a season in Bermuda, where he met his future wife, Therese Godin in 1962, they were married the same year. They had three children.
Jean-Claude is survived by his wife, Therese (Godin) Chamaillard of Lewiston; his daughters, Suzanne Chamaillard of Lewiston and Monique Dyke and her husband, Warren, of Turner; grandson, Benjamin Dyke of Turner; his sister, Anne-Marie Chamaillard of Nice, France; brother, Richard Godin and his wife, Constance, of Auburn; sister-in-law, Emily Blanchette of Auburn; sister-in-law, Mary Godin of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Jean-Paul Chamaillard in 1998.
