LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer an American Red Cross lifeguard training course starting Friday, May 13.
Classes will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on that Friday; again from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 14; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 15; 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 20; and 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.
This course teaches students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent and, if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. This course includes American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.
Members of the YWCA pay $225 for the session and non-members pay $250. Space is limited and registrations need to be in by May 11. For more information or to register, call the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050 or via email at [email protected]
