NORWAY — An unusual fun and informative choral concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Norway Episcopal Church on Paris Street. Admission is free, though donations are welcome.
The program consists of 13 choral selections from the 1500s composer Palestrina to today’s Billy Joel. A spiritual, a madrigal, Appalachian and Newfoundland folk music, the 60s surfers and a hot song circa 1840 New England are all represented and all are connected. Come and listen and laugh. We absolutely promise some foot stomping music as well as an explanation of how these are all connected.
The newly-formed Oxford Hills Community Chorus is under the direction of well-known musician Dan Allen and equally well-known accompanist Faye Hill. There are folks from the former Hills Alive Choral and new faces, ages from 18 to 80. If you like choir music, come and listen. If you like to sing, come and sample to see if you might like to join.
