FARMINGTON — Irene Ann Cushing, 74, of Farmington passed away Tuesday, May 10, at Sandy River Center for Healthcare surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 13, 1936, the daughter of Fred and Sadie (Pomerleau) Richard. Irene was a 1955 graduate of Livermore Falls High and had a degree in cosmetology.

On June 13, 1959, she married Robert W. Cushing. She worked as a secretary in many places over the years. She also worked in the special education department at Mt. Blue High School before working in the loan department at Franklin Savings Bank until her retirement.

Irene was a member of the singing group “The Melodiers” in high school, and after. She was a devout Christian woman having attended and enjoyed several different churches and denominations over the years. Irene was a member of the Red Hat Society. First and foremost she enjoyed her family, spending time in nature, cross country skiing, photography, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Douglas Cushing and his significant other, Dalene Sinskie, of New Sharon and Richard Cushing and his wife, Lorraine, of Livermore Falls; grandchildren, Cheyanne, Chayse, Brooke, Jessie, Aaron, and Jerrica; her sister, Linda Cyr; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Raymond.
