LEWISTON — The Senior College Food for Thought luncheon series at USM/Lewiston-Auburn College scheduled for Friday, May 13, will feature a  presentation by Rosy Hayden.

In her program, “Growing Culinary Herbs in Maine,” she will discuss container gardening, soil requirements, and the cooking, harvesting, drying techniques and proper storage for commonly used herbs.

Hayden resides in Auburn and has been gardening since 1990, with special interests in historical garden restoration, perennials and herbs. She is an active member of the University of Maine Co-Operative Extension’s executive committee for Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties, and is the owner of Rosy’s Garden Design.

Senior College, now in its 12th year, presents the monthly luncheon program at 11:30 a.m. in the Function Room 170 at USM LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door. Reservations must be made by noon Thursday, May 12, by calling 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”
