DIXFIELD The Police Department responded to the following incidents between May 4 and 11:

* May 5 at 8 a.m.: A criminal mischief complaint involving a rock thrown through a rear side window of a 1995 Ford Explorer with damage estimated at between $300 and $400. It is owned by a Main Street resident. The incident is still under investigation.

* May 5 at 4 p.m.: A vehicle driven by Allen Ackley of Dixfield collided with a deer on Route 142.

* May 7 at 9:45 a.m.: A complaint of a dog running at large resulted in Trinity Wilson of Dixfield being issued a court summons for July 5.

* May 7-8: Dixfield, Rumford and Mexico police, and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department broke up an underage drinking party in Peru, confiscated a large quantity of alcoholic beverages but did not issue any summonses, Sgt. Jeff Howe said.

The department is advising motorists to be extra cautious of bicyclists as daylight hours increase and temperatures get warmer. Parents are encouraged to instruct their children on the rules of the road and the importance of wearing helmets. Bicyclists are reminded to bike with the flow of traffic and biking on sidewalks is prohibited.
