Monmouth 14, Wiscasset 4

MONMOUTH — Monmouth scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a tie game and cruise to a 14-4 MVC softball victory over Wiscasset.

Chelsea Arsenault, Kristi Hilton, Reen Kahl and Kylie Kemp each notched a pair of hits for the Mustangs (5-2). Kemp clouted a double and had two RBIs.

Reen Kahl struck out seven and notched the win for Monmouth.

Carrabec 10, Mountain Valley 7
RUMFORD — Courtney Turner scattered seven hits and drew ample run support as Carrabec hustled to a 10-7 victory over Mountain Valley in a MVC softball tilt Thursday.

Ashley Knight led the Cobras (3-4) with three hits and two RBIs. Carrabec put seven runs on the board during the fourth, fifth and sixth frames to take command of the contest.

Hannah Lapointe belted a solo home run in the fifth inning to lead the Falcons’ (2-5) offensive effort. Jesse Kane also contributed with a pair of hits.

Hall-Dale 14, St. Dom’s 8

AUBURN — Hall-Dale scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning and added four more in the seventh Thursday, breaking away to a 14-8 MVC softball victory over St. Dom’s.

Carylanne Wolfington was 4-for-5 with two triples, a double, a single and four RBIs for the Bulldogs (4-3). Natasha Brown also had four hits and drove in a pair. Laura Allen added three hits and Kayla Barton two for Hall-Dale.

Mary Caron was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Saints (4-3). Becky Trytek chalked up three hits and Bethany Fox chipped in two.

St. Dom’s rallied with five runs in the sixth to close the gap to 10-8 before the Bulldogs pulled away in the seventh.

Freeport 4, Poland 2

FREEPORT — Freeport scored three runs in the first inning Thursday, and Leigh Wyman struck out 11 Poland batters to make the lead hold up for a 4-2 WMC softball triumph.

Poland scored its two runs in the top of the fifth. Colleen Murphy struck out six for the Knights.

Lexi Dietrich slapped two singles and K.C. Breed belted a double for the Falcons.
