DIXFIELD —Alyssa Wade scattered seven hits while striking out seven to help lead Dirigo to a 5-4 upset win over Telstar in MVC softball action Friday.

The Rebels’ loss is their first regular-season defeat in the last three seasons. The Cougars (5-4) scratched for a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. Singles by Kyme Dolloff and Natalie Bolduc were followed by RBI singles by Amber Wilson and Tasha DeRoche. Telstar’s lone run was a solo homer over the centerfield fence by catcher Lyndsay Merrill.

Wade (5-1) walked two in going the distance. She was helped by a pair of defensive plays behind her in the third and finished the fourth with a bases-loaded strikeout to keep the Rebels (8-1) at bay. Kayla Merrill (8-1) fanned seven and allowed six hits in the loss.

Lincoln 2, Leavitt 0

NEWCASTLE — Sherri Creamer and Ashley Pennington each drove in runs as Lincoln squeaked past Leavitt by a 2-0 score in girls’ softball Friday.

Pennington (6-3) yielded eight hits while fanning five for the Eagles (6-3). Pennington helped her cause by rapping out three hits, including an RBI single to plate Kim Bolster with the second run of the game. Lisa Soohey and Creamer hit back-to-back doubles in the fourth.

Adrie Newton (4-5) struck out seven in suffering the loss for the Hornets (4-5). She and Annie Castonguay paced the visitors with two hits each.

Monmouth 6, Hall-Dale 2

MONMOUTH — Reen Kahl tossed a one-hitter to lift Monmouth to a 6-2 MVC softball victory over Hall-Dale on Friday.

Kahl (4-2) struck out 14 batters and yielded just one walk and a single by Emily Maynard. Kahl also helped out at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Bri Hicks added a pair of singles for the Mustangs (6-2).

Laura Allen (4-4) took the loss for the Bulldogs (4-6).

Oxford Hills 9, Morse 0

PARIS — Dayna Schultz smacked a pair of triples and drove in three runs to lead Oxford Hills to a 9-0 triumph over Morse in a KVAC softball game Friday.

Abby Bernier and Brianna Martin also hit triples to lead the Vikings’ nine-hit attack against the Shipbuilders

Leading 4-0 after four innings, Oxford Hills (7-2) put the game out of reach with a five-run outburst in the fifth inning.

Heather Verrier cattered seven hits and struck out two for the win.

Erskine 6, Mt. Blue 3

SOUTH CHINA — Pitcher Sonja Morse was bouyed by a five-run second inning as Erskine notched a 6-3 victory over Mt. Blue in KVAC softball action Friday.

The Cougars (0-9) committed seven errors and Erskine scored five unearned runs in the second inning. Hannah Allen went 2-for-4 with a single and a double for Mt. Blue.

Mt. Blue pitcher Alexis Howard gave up only two hits in the second inning, while the Eagles (7-3) took advantage of defensive miscues.

Edward Little 4, Cony 3

AUGUSTA — Emily Johnson scored the game-winning run as Edward Little edged Cony 4-3 in KVAC softball action Friday.

The Rams (7-3) connected for five straight hits to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning. Junior catcher Nicole Rugan had an RBI double in the process.

The Red Eddies (5-4) scored three runs on three hits in the sixth inning. Johnson scored on a bunt by senior pitcher Miranda Martin in the winning effort.

Brunswick 22, Lewiston 10

LEWISTON — Brunswick took advantage of 11 first-inning errors by Lewiston which led to 20 runs en route to a 22-10 KVAC softball victory.

The Dragons (2-8) also received two-run singles from Ali Camp and Kaylan LeBlanc in the first. Laura Blier went the distance for the win.

Lewiston was paced by Tamara Roy, who belted a two-run single in a nine-run fourth.

Kourtney Bartlett chipped in with a run-scoring safety while Maegan Mathon added an RBI double in the same frame. Kati Dumais (2-7) was tagged with the loss for the Blue Devils (2-7).

St. Dom’s 17, Boothbay 1

AUBURN — Lexi Casey and Meagan Lawrence were the only repeat hitters as St. Dom’s cruised to a 17-1 victory over Boothbay in WMC softball action Friday.

The Seagull’s (0-8) committed five errors and permitted the Saints (5-3) to score at will. St. Dom’s scored 10 runs in the fourth inning.

Boothbay’s only run came in the second inning when Jessica Murphy walked to score Meghan Smith in a bases-loaded situation.

Mountain Valley 2, Madison 1

RUMFORD — Winning pitcher Lindsay Gallant doubled and Courtney Carlson singled to bring home Gallant with the winning run in the second inning as Mountain Valley slipped away from Madison with a 2-1 victory in a softball game Friday.

Carlson was the only repeat hitter, collecting a pair of singles. The Falcons (3-5) used six hits to dispose of the Bulldgos (5-4).

The Falcons scored a run in the first inning. Madison did muster a run in the top of the sixth inning, but Mountain Valley held on for a one-run victory.

Jay 8, Mt. Abram 0

SALEM — Jay (7-1) erupted with four runs in the second inning and used four hits and took advantage of five errors to finish off Mt. Abram (3-5) with an 8-0 victory in a softball game Friday.

Winning pitcher Paula Despres threw the shutout and struck out three batters.

Mt. Abram’s Molly McCafferty had two hits.

Lacrosse

Sanford 16, Edward Little 11

AUBURN — Haley Nordmann scored five goals and Brooke Peterson added four more to spark Sanford to a 16-11 victory over EdwardLLittle in girls’ lacrosse action Friday.

Saydi Voisine scored five goals to lead Edward Little (1-5). Gabby Lapierre added three goals, while Hannah Johnston, Shelby Russell and Miranda Casey also scored for the Eddies. Sanford (4-3) outshot EL, 30-24. Paige Landry and Courtney Pelletier shared goalkeeper duties for EL.
