PARIS — The May 17 meeting of the Oxford County Commission has been rescheduled to May 24.

According to County Administrator Scott Cole, commission Chairman Caldwell Jackson felt the commission should attend the May 17 legislative hearings in Augusta on reforming or dissolving Maine’s Land Use Regulation Committee.

At the commission’s April 19 meeting, commissioners heard a plan to dissolve LURC written by Maine Rep. Jeffery Gifford of Lincoln, who attended the meeting along with other legislators and county commissioners from northern Maine.

That proposal would put unorganized territories, like those in Oxford County, under the direct control of local county commissions.

Cole said the June meeting would happen on June 21, as planned. The Oxford County Commission regularly meets on the third Tuesday of each month.
