DEAR SUN SPOTS: You’ve helped me before and hopefully you can help me again.

Our son works in Portland on Brighton Avenue from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. My husband and I alternate driving him to and from work. With the price of gas, it is very expensive.

If he could car pool with someone, we would bring him to meet his ride. If someone can help, you may call me at 346-3373 or 740-1125. We would be grateful for any help we can receive. — No Name, Minot

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is to let everyone know that the fish fries are back at the Durham AmVets Post 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for the same price, $10, starting May 6. — Madeline Roy, Durham

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you find the address of James Durbin? He is a contestant on “American Idol.” — A Fan in L-A

If anyone has any information on these folks, please let me know. — Nancy Pratt-Knowlton, [email protected], 998-2031.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the May 5 letter looking for a Dr. Donohue column about easy-to-remember food portions, I’m not sure about Donohue, but a local doctor said: Each day, six to eight 1/3 cup servings of veggies and fruits. One banana counts as two servings, and one medium-sized potato counts as two servings. Meat or fish the size of a deck of cards is a serving. Some people need to avoid salt; some people need to avoid fats.

My Sun Journal carrier is wonderful. So is Sun Spots. Also, thank you for the TV and radio sports schedule. One day it was not included and I feared that it would no longer be a part of the Sports section. — No Name via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’ve got several skeins of yarn of various colors to give to anyone who can use them. They have been stored in a steamer truck in my cellar. Our cellar had a flood a couple of weeks ago, so the yarn has a musty smell to it. If someone puts the yarn outside in the sun, I’m thinking the smell will go away.

Also, I have several pieces of new cloth with the same odor. If interested, please call 784-6300. Leave a message with your phone number if no one answers. Thank you. — Brenda, Lewiston
