Massachusetts State Police are questioning a person in connection with the discovery of a dead boy on a secluded road in Maine on Saturday, a possible break in a case that had mystified investigators and made headlines nationally, according to the Boston Globe.
Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said the person was taken into protective custody in the late morning at a rest stop on Interstate 495 southbound in Chelmsford.
According to the Boston Globe the person is being questioned at the agency’s Concord barracks.
The State Police have also seized a vehicle, which is being examined at a State Police facility, Procopio told the Boston-based news organization.
In a brief statement to the media Wednesday afternoon Maine State Police Lieutenant Brian McDonough said investigators have “new information that we are following up on,” but he offered no further details.
