FARMINGTON — Relief pitcher Dylan Vining helped himself by hitting a game-ending double to score Clint Lowe with the winning run and lift Mt. Blue to a 4-3 victory over Messalonskee in a KVAC baseball game Monday.

Vining came on in relief of Jimmy Neal, who pitched five strong innings, and allowed one hot and struck out four in two innings.

Mt. Blue (7-3) tied the game in the sixth with no outs when Neal doubled and scored on Nick Hilton’s base hit.

Sam Dexter had a double for Messalonskee (3-8). Justin Meader had a pair of hits.

Madison 4, Livermore Falls 2

LIVERMORE FALLS — Matt Flanders belted an RBI double in the sixth inning to lift Madison to a 4-2 victory over Livermore Falls in a MVC baseball tilt.

Steve Cusson struck out 12 batters for the Bulldogs (5-6) in seven solid innings of work.

The Andies (4-7) utilzed Gavin Jones and Hunter Brett on the mound, with reliever Brett taking the loss.

Monmouth 5, Georges Valley 3

MONMOUTH — Josh Fournier belted a pair of key hits and RBIs in the fifth innig to lift Monmouth to a 5-3 win over Georges Valley in more late-season MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Roger Bacheldor chipped in for the Mustangs (8-2) with two hits and one RBI, while Blake Burnham belted an RBI triple.

The Buccaneers (2-6) were paced by Dylan Maloney and Sam Tarbox with two hits apiece. Monmouth tied the contest at 2-2 in the fourth frame before taking command in the fifth.

Telstar 5, Mountain Valley 0

RUMFORD — Dan Whitney gave up just two hits and drew ample run support as Telstar hustled to a 5-0 win over Mountain Valley in a drizzle-filled MVC baseball matchup.

Corey Howard led the Rebels (7-2) with three hits and three RBIs, highlighted by a three-run home run in the seventh.

Adam Volkernick suffered the loss for Mountain Valley (4-6) after working the first five innings.

Brunswick 3, Edward Little 2

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick took advantage of a passed ball in the seventh to tie the game and Luke Carter pushed the go-ahead run across the plate in the eighth as the Dragons fired up a 3-2 victory over Edward Little in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Pitcher Shane Lizotte gave up only two walks and three hits for the Dragons (7-4). Carter had a pair of hits, including the run-scoring triple in the seventh.

James Jackson put the Red Eddies (6-4) on the board first with a run-scoring triple in the first inning.

Lewiston 10, Oxford Hills 0

PARIS — Corbin Hyde smashed a grand slam as Lewiston rolled to a 10-0 shutout over Oxford Hills in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (10-1) put three runs on the board in the third inning, and Hyde broke the game open with a bases clearing home run in the fourth. Pitcher Jeff Keene coughed up just four hits to earn the shutout victory for Lewiston.

Ben Bowie had two of the Vikings’ (5-6) four hits in the losing effort.

Dirigo 20, Mt. Abram 9

SALEM — Senior center fielder Arik Fenstermacher blasted two home runs to power Dirigo to a 20-9 triumph over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action.

The Roadrunners (2-9) tied the game in the bottom of the second and remained even until the Cougars (11-0) rallied for seven in the top of the fourth. Dirigo took advantage of 19 bases on balls.

Spencer Ross provided a single and double with two RBIs for Dirigo. Fenstermacher went 3-for-6 and had four RBIs.

Jay Chenard had a single and three walks for Mt. Abram, and plated a run in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 10, Lisbon 0

AUBURN — Junior third baseman Joe Bryant compiled three hits and four RBIs as St. Dom’s floated to a 10-0 shutout victory over Lisbon in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

The Saints (8-1) took a 3-0 lead after three innings on a pair of one-run scoring doubles from Bryant. Senior center Kyle Hargreaves plated a pair of runs in the fivth with a double, while Bryant added a pair of RBIs on his single.

Shortstop Brandon Hovey was perfect at the plate for the Greyhounds (3-7), tabulating two of their six hits in the losing effort.

Gray-New Gloucester 12, Poland 9

POLAND — Heath Martell had a pair of hits, including a grand slam to propel Gray-New Gloucester to a 12-9 triumph over Poland in WMC baseball action Wednesday.

The Patriots posted runs across six of seven innings, but made significant headway in the fifth frame on Martell’s round tripper. Martell had a total of six RBIs.

Aaron Boulos also chipped in with a pair of hits and crossed the plate three times for Gray-New Gloucester.

Every Poland batter had at least one hit, totaling 13 to the Patriots’ seven. But, they weren’t as quality as the opposing force. Connor King had a game-high three hits, while Pat Jipson and Devin Goyette added two in the losing effort.

Winthrop 5, Wiscasset 0

WINTHROP — Ryan Conant scattered two hits and drew ample run support as Winthrop pulled off a big 5-0 upset win over Wiscasset in late-season MVC baseball action Wednesday.

After a scoreless first three frames, the Ramblers (5-4) got active at the plate.

Jason Wetherbee led Wiscasset (8-3) with a double and also suffered the loss after working the first three innings.

Lacrosse

St. Dom’s 7, Maranacook 2

WINTHROP — Troy Haefele scored three goals and assisted on the other four goals to spark unbeaten St. Dom’s to a 7-2 triumph over Maranacook in boys’ lacrosse action.

Haefele scored twice in the first quarter to send the Saints (9-0) to a 3-0 advantage . Clinging to a 4-2 lead with one quarter remaining, the Saints put the game away with three unanswered goals.

Anthony Fagone, Chris Finlay, Kevin Costello and Dalton Lorenz also scored goals for St. Dom’s. Cody Rodrique made 13 saves in net for the Saints.

Mitch Bessette and John Dale scored for the Black Bears (4-4).

Oak Hill 9, Camden Hills 2

WALES — Nate Ralston netted six goals to lead Oak Hill to a 9-2 victory over Camden Hills in a KVAC boys’ lacrosse tilt Wednesday.

Brian Daniels, Keith Madore and Trevor Samson also tallied for the Raiders (3-6) to complete the scoring. Will Aronson made 18 saves to notch the win.

Camden Hills (1-8) received one goal each from Zack Nelson and Nick Linsott, while Marshall Crockett turned aside 20 shots between the posts.

Lewiston 17, Mt. Blue 3

FARMINGTON — Ryan Lemelin, Curtis Robinson and Evan Carrier all registered hat tricks Wednesday as Lewiston hustled to a 17-3 romp over Mt. Blue in a late-season KVAC boys’ lacrosse tilt.

Tanner Hubbard chipped in for the Blue Devils (9-1) with two goals to complete the scoring.

Matt Davis led the Cougars (3-6) with two goals, while Griffin Conlogue aso tallied. Tyler Poulin made nine saves on 26 shots between the posts for Mt. Blue.
