DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m like all the others who read your column every day. You’ve answered my questions in the past, and now I have another one.

I love orchids, and my two plants seem to love my tiny apartment. One has been with me for over five years and has never stopped blooming — doesn’t even take a rest!

I was told that there is a greenhouse in New Gloucester where orchids are a specialty. Would you be able to find out where it is located, its telephone number, etc? I will head in that direction as soon as I hear from you! Thank you. — P.D., South Paris

ANSWER: An online search turned up Woodsprite Orchids in New Gloucester. You can read more about them and their mission to provide these special flowers to fellow fans at www.woodspriteorchids.com. Or you can visit them at 43 Depot Road, New Gloucester, ME 04260-5035, 688-4284.

You might also enjoy reading about a fictional orchid lover. Author Rex Stout wrote dozens of stories about genius detective Nero Wolfe, who lives in a New York brownstone with a greenhouse full of orchids on the top floor. Many of the books take place in the 1950s and offer an interesting view of life in New York during that era.
