Recently, I was proud to be a part of Gov. Paul LePage’s signing of LD 20 (as amended), a bill introduced by Rep. Sheryl Briggs, D-Mexico, designating March 30 as Maine Vietnam War Remembrance Day.

Although I have been quite a critic of some of the governor’s policies, I wish the press had been there to report on the kinder, gentler side of the governor. His words to the Vietnam veterans in the room were very kind and compassionate, and I publicly thank him.

Perhaps the governor’s staff should have invited the press, so the citizens of Maine could have seen a side of the governor constantly overlooked and unreported.
