NORWAY — The public is invited to attend the 2011 Work Healthy! Employer Recognition Celebration from 11:30 a.m. to  1 p.m. June 2 at the Harper Conference Room in Norway.

Twenty-three area businesses will receive one of six recognition awards. Last year, three organizations earned a Gold Award, the highest recognition category. This year there will be five.

Businesses and organizations large and small are recognized based on their work site tobacco policy and for all of the other ways that they support and protect the good health of their employees. As health care costs continue to soar, three out of four businesses in the U.S. have taken up a focus on employee health — up from about 50 percent in 2009.

Community members are welcomed to join the luncheon for a small fee as John Jenkins, Lewiston’s former mayor and a highly esteemed public speaker, welcomes and appreciates the awardees’ focus on and support of employee health over this past year. Call Healthy Oxford Hills at 739-6222 to reserve a seat.
