LEWISTON — Principal Gus LeBlanc has announced that Jonathan McDonough has been recognized as the Lewiston High School recipient of the Maine Principals’ Award for 2011.

Each Maine high school principal identifies one student who has distinguished themselves as a scholar, leader and outstanding school citizen to be recognized with the principals’ award. The recipient is recognized at the state-wide banquet, has their name placed on the principals’ award plaque and the high school and is eligible for one of five state-wide Maine Principals’ Association scholarships.

LeBlanc said, “Jonathan is an outstanding example of a student who excels academically, assumes a positive and productive leadership role in the school and distinguishes himself as a model school citizen.”

McDonough will graduate as the valedictorian of the class of 2011. He is a three-sport standout athlete in soccer, ice hockey and tennis and has assumed a leadership role in school activities and service to the community. He is the Lewiston High School National Honor Society president and is the recipient of various academic honors and awards.

Jonathan, son of Robert and Linda McDonough, will attend Boston College Majoring in pre-medicine/biology in the fall of 2011.
