A handful of area athletes will begin a quest for tennis singles title Monday, two days late, thanks to Mother Nature.

And when this year’s tourney does finally begin, two tri-county area boys and one girl will be among the top seeds in the tournament.

Eric Hall leads the way as the No. 7 seed in the boys’ draw despite missing time this season with an illness. The top singles player for Lewiston, Hall is making a return appearance to the tournament, and is seeded for the first time.

Joining Hall at Bates College’s Wallach Tennis Complex on Monday among the seeds is teammate Scott Gagne, who is seeded 11th.

On the girls’ side, Edward Little’s Frankie Lally is the 12th seed in the draw.

Brian Bradstreet and Darby Beaulieu of Oak Hill have early wake-up calls Monday, the first day of the three-day event. The pair have first-round matches beginning at 9 a.m.
