RUMFORD — Senior shortstop Cam Kaubris singled in the winning run as Mtn. Valley upset previously undefeated Dirigo 7-6 in MVC baseball action Friday.

Junior first baseman Kyle Gauvin provided a pivotal bases loaded two-run double in a five-run sixth inning for the Falcons (5-8). The rally reversed a 4-0 deficit for a one-point lead.

Dirigo starting pitcher junior Ben Holmes helped his team on offense with three hits. But, the Cougars (14-1) committed three errors and Holmes gave up a pair of inopportune doubles.

Gardiner 4, Oak Hill 1

WALES — Senior Spencer Allen drove in two runs in the first inning as Gardiner coasted to a 4-1 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC baseball action Friday evening.

The Tigers (10-5) took a 2-0 lead in the first when Allen plated runners from second an third on a single. Michael Phelps added an RBI single in the fourth and the Tigers took a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Senior outfielder Cody Provost spoiled the shutout by nailing down an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh fame for the Raiders (6-9) in the losing effort.

Bangor 3, Mt. Blue 1

BANGOR — Shortstop Nick Cota ripped a two-run triple in the third inning put put the Rams ahead and for good as Bangor bumped Mt. Blue 3-1 in KVAC baseball action Friday.

Pitcher Curtis Worcester fanned nine batters for the Rams (13-2) and gave up just three hits for one run and a complete game win.

Pitcher Bradley Jackson sat down six opposing batters for the Cougars (10-4) in the losing effort.

Telstar 12, Mt. Abram 0

BETHEL — Winning pitcher Ben Field struck out 13 batters, tossed a no-hitter, and smacked a sixth-inning homer as Telstar overpowered Mt. Abram with a lopsided 12-0 victory in a baseball game Friday.

Field was perfect through four innings before giving up a slow-rolling infield single to the Roadrunners.

Nick Mills launched a walk-off, three-run homer, forcing the 10-run rule to be implemented in the sixth inning. Corey Howard was the only repeat hitter with three hits. The Rebels (11-2) had eight hits and commited no errors. The Roadrunners had seven errors.

Lisbon 22, Boothbay 3

LISBON — Junior Dalton Dunphy was perfect at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance, including three doubles and five RBIs, as Lisbon crushed Boothbay 22-3 in baseball action Friday.

The Greyhounds (5-11) lept to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and scored 10 runs in the third inning as they never let up. Mike Degou also went 4-for-4 and crossed the plate five times for Lisbon.

Matt Murphy and Kevin Mills accounted for four of the six hits by the Seagulls (0-13).

Softball

Telstar 7, Mt. Abram 2

BETHEL — Senior pitcher Kayla Merrill tagged a two-run double in the third inning as Telstar trodded to a 7-2 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC softball action Friday.

The Rebels (13-1) took a 7-1 lead after four and made an impressive first to home double play in the fifth inning to comfortably cross the finish line. Junior cathcer Lyndsay Merrill furnished a double and triple for Telstar.

Center fielder Anna McGinniss led the Roadrunners (6-8) with a pair of hits, while senior pitcher Molly McCafferty held her own on the mound for Mt. Abram.

Lisbon 14, Boothbay 2

LISBON — Kyrsin Ramich drove in four runs as Lisbon dashed to a 14-2 rout over Boothbay in sfotball action Friday evening.

The Greyounds peppered 14 hits and left the Seagulls in the spillway with an eight-run second inning. Brooke Lawrence and Alexa Harmon collected three hits apiece for Lisbon.

Tori Schmid was the only repeat hitter for Boothbay in the losing effort.

Oak Hill 9, Gardiner 0

WALES — Alyssa Rouleau recorded three, two doubles and two RBIs to lead Oak Hill to a 9-0 shutout over Gardiner in softball action Friday.

The Raiders (12-3) posted four runs in the second inning. The pitcher Lauren Hall tossed six strike outs in the winning effort.

Steph Plourde and Jenna Moore accounted for the two Gardiner hits as the Tigers (5-10) struggled to produce any offense.
