AUBURN — Junior third baseman Nate Blais plated three runs on two hits and scored a run to pace Edward Little to a stunning 4-2 victory over top-ranked Bangor in KVAC baseball action Monday afternoon.

After giving up a pair of runs in the first inning, junior pitcher Luke Farrago settled down and struck out 12 to earn the complete-game win for the Red Eddies (9-7).

Luke Wetterman and Anthony Capuano each recorded a hit and a run scored in the first inning for the Rams (13-3).

Lewiston 9, Erskine 2

LEWISTON — Corbin Hyde slugged a pair of home runs, while Mekae Hyde and Jeff Keene also ripped homers to power Lewiston to a 9-2 triumph over Erskine in a KVAC baseball game Monday.

The Blue Devils (14-1) appear likely to enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed in Eastern Class A.

Lewiston’s muscle was evident right from the start as brothers Mekae Hyde and Corbin Hyde slugged back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Keene added a solo shot in the fifth, while Corbin Hyde completed the scoring with a three-run blast in the sixth inning.

Starting pitcher Joe Sullivan went the first six innings and struck out five to earn the win. Scott Ouellete helped the offense with three hits, while Corbin Hyde and Shawn Ricker had two hits each.

Caleb Bragg-Grady had three singles to lead Erskine (9-7).

Rangeley, Greenville split

GREENVILLE — Senior Zeke Hall had three triples in an EWC doubleheader as Rangeley dropped the first game 13-3 and won the nightcap 11-5 over Greenville on Monday.

Despite a pair of triples on offense, Hall gave up seven walks to take the mound loss in the opener for Rangeley (7-5). Sophomore pitcher Steve Bilodeau fanned seven batters and walked no one for Greenville.

Greenville (12-2) capitalized on some of those walks with six runs in the fourth inning.

The walk poltergeist seemed to be an equal-opportunity possessor as Greenville coughed up 10 walks in the nightcap. Anthony DiAngelo had a triple, while Tristan Richards provided two RBIs for Greenville.

Jordan Richard matched teammate Hall with a triple in Game 2 as Rangeley split with Greenville.

St. Dom’s 11, Hall-Dale 0

FARMINGDALE — Sophomore Jimmy Theriault pitched with command, striking out six and walking none, as St. Dom’s coasted to an 11-0 shutout victory over Hall-Dale in its second basebal game played Monday.

Theriault was also prolific on offense, plating a pair of runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Freshman first baseman Drew Gosselin also recorded a pair of RBIs in the six-run third inning.

Softball

Erskine 15, Lewiston 0

LEWISTON — Meryl Bard plated the game-winning run in the second inning as Erskine Academy soared to a 15-0 blanking of Lewiston in KVAC softball action Monday afternoon.

The Eagles (10-5) scored three runs in the second inning, and jetted ahead with five runs in the fourth and seven in the sixth innings. Hannah Peabody, who singled and stole second, scored on Bard’s RBI single in the second.

The Blue Devils (3-11) left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth innings. Freshman center fielder Maegan Mathon had a pair of hits for Lewiston.

Bangor 5, Edward Little 1

AUBURN — Senior catcher Sadie Redman had a pair of home runs as Bangor notched a 5-1 victory over Edward Little.

The Rams (11-5) posted single runs in five of their seven innings. Taylor Lewis earned the mound win and contributed a pair of doubles for Bangor.

Sophomore shortstop Ashlee Arnold had three hits and a run for the Red Eddies (9-7). Senior pitcher Miranda Martin fanned six batters in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 21, Hall-Dale 7

FARMINGDALE — Dayle Jordan and Sarah Gosselin recorded four hits each as St. Dom’s routed Hall-Dale 21-7 in softball action Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs got things started in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by Carylanne Wolfington. But, the Saints responded with nine runs in the top of the second.

Gosselin demonstrated power with a pair of doubles and triples in the scoring frenzy for St. Dom’s. Becka Tryek chipped in with a double and two singles in the winning effort.

Girls’ lacrosse

Cony 18, Edward Little 9

AUBURN — Chelsea Begin scored five goals and Mia Diplock added four more to send Cony to an 18-9 victory over Edward Little in the season-finale.

Cony (9-3), which scored 11 goals in the first half, outshot the Red Eddies, 38-20.

Saydi Voisine, Hannah Johnston, Shelbea Russell and Kate Sawyer scored two goals apiece for Edward Little (1-11). Allarie Lever also scored for EL. Paige Landry made 14 saves in goal.
