BETHEL — Kayla Merrill scattered five hits and drove in a run Tuesday to lead Telstar to a 2-0 victory over Jay in a late-season MVC softball tilt.
Merrill struck out eight batters and walked one, then helped her own cause with an RBI triple in the first inning. The Rebels (14-1) added an insurance run in the sixth when Katie Sumner drove Nicena Walker across the plate.
Alexi Deering led the Tigers (13-2) with two hits, while Paula Despres put in a solid performance on the mound. There with no errors by either team.
Telstar will play against Georges Valley on Monday for the MVC championship.
Brewer 20, Lewiston 1
LEWISTON — Emily Cox gave up just two hits and drew plenty of run support as Brewer cruised to a 20-1 rout over Lewiston in a KVAC regular-season softball finale Tuesday.
The Witches (15-1) put nine runs on the board in the second and third frames to take control. Lindsay Houp, Sarah Babin, Amy Curry and Carly Seymour all belted two hits for Brewer.
The Blue Devils (3-13) utilized Kati Dumais on the mound for all five innings.
Skowhegan 7, Oxford Hills 1
SKOWHEGAN — Katy Esty scattered three hits and drew plenty of run support as Skowhegan hustled to a 7-1 victory over Oxford Hills in their KVAC softball regular-season finale Tuesday.
The Indians built a 2-0 advantage in the third frame and pulled away.
Crystal West worked the first three innings for Oxford Hills and suffered the loss.
Maranacook 2, Oak Hill 0
WALES — Sarah Boynton gave up just two hits and struck out six batters as Maranacook edged Oak Hill 2-0 in a softball contest Tuesday afternoon.
Heidi Shaw led the Black Bears (11-5) with an RBI triple in the sixth inning.
The Raiders (12-4) put Lauren Hall on the mound, while Alyssa Rouleau and Taylor Fillion each belted out two hits.

Telstar 7, Jay 6
BETHEL — Nick Mills belted an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Telstar to a 7-6 victory over Jay in an MVC baseball tilt Tuesday.
Kyle Peterson led the Rebels (12-2) with a two-run home run in the fifth frame, while Mills and T.J. O’Connor both finished with two hits apiece. Dan Whitney scattered seven hits in seven innings for Telstar to record the win.
The Tigers (3-13) were paced by Jake Bessey with two hits and two RBIs, while Jake Lord belted an RBI double. Jake Lord gave up 11 hits in six innings of work and was tagged with the loss.
Maranacook 7, Oak Hill 1
WALES — Ryan Mannick scattered three hits and drew plenty of run support as Maranacook hustled to a 7-1 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC baseball action Tuesday.
The Black Bears (8-8) built a 2-0 advantage in the first frame and were never challenged.
Cam Morin and Evan Ballard led the Raiders (6-10) with two hits each, while started Josh Martin was tagged with the loss.
Oxford Hills 5, Skowhegan 4
SKOWHEGAN — Nick Attaliades-Ryan singled and came all the way home with the winning run on Matt Beauchesne’s long sacrifice fly to center field in the eight inning as Oxford Hills slipped away with a 5-4 victory over Skowhegan in a baseball game Tuesday.
The game was tied at 4-4 going into the top of the eighth inning when Attaliades-Ryan scored the game-winning run.
The Vikings (8-8) held a 4-0 lead through three innings before the lead changed hands in favor of Skowhegan (2-14) in the fifth.
Oxford Hills used a 10-hit attack to subdue Skowhegan. Dylan Cox smacked an RBI double in the third inning for the Vikings, and teammates Matt Beauchesne and catcher Jacke Plummer each had two hits.
Girls’ lacrosse
Lewiston 12, Oxford Hills 11, OT
LEWISTON — Kirsten McCombs found the net just three minutes into overtime to lift Lewiston to a surprising 12-11 victory over Oxford Hills in a season-ending KVAC girls’ lacrosse matchup Tuesday.
McCombs led the Blue Devils (5-7) with seven goals, while Saba Naji added two. Single tallies by Sara Marden, Lauren Lessard and Mariah Carrier completed the scoring. Kirsten Burgess and Sam Cote combined for 19 saves to notch the win.
The Vikings received seven goals from Marisa Hanning, while Danielle Allen registered a hat trick. Abby Morton also scored to round out the final tally. Audrey Komulainen turned aside 12 shots in the cage for Oxford Hills.
Mountain Valley 16, Camden Hills 15
RUMFORD — Zayra Simard found the net with 1:14 remaining as Mountain Valley pulled out a come-from-behind 16-15 victory over Camden Hills in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday.
Junior center Ayla Allen led the Falcons (5-7) with 11 goals, while Simard finished with three. Single tallies by Emily Gallant and Kayla Pingree completed the scoring. Freshman keeper Jordan True made 16 saves to record the win.
Camden Hills (1-11) received four goals and two assists from Mia Maddox, while Addie Drinkwater registered a hat trick. Maddie Buckley and Laura Johnson chipped in with two goals apiece, while single goals from Marnie Merrill, Caroline Matteo, Kristina Alex and Alice Flint rounded out the final tally. Justina Mariner turned aside 10 shots in the cage for Camden Hills.
