JAY — Police say a New Sharon man charged in a head-on collision on Route 4 Saturday night was driving on a suspended license.
Seven people were injured in the accident and one remains in the hospital.
Brendan Provencal, 20, of was charged Tuesday by summons with felony operating after suspension, and a misdemeanor charge of operating left of center, Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday. Provencal was also given a summons for seat belt violation.
Provencal was driving a Ford Explorer when it crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Christopher Labbe, 19, of Jay, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, White said. Police are waiting for results of blood tests, he said.
Labbe was seriously injured. He was listed in good condition Wednesday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, a spokeswoman said.
Labbe’s five passengers, ages 16 to 18, were either treated at the scene or at a hospital and released, police previously said.
