AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced the following July events for children.

The library will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Library hours are Mondays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information call 333-6640, ext. 3, or visit www.auburnpubliclibrary.org.

Family Fun Spot: Fridays, July 1, 8, 16, 22 and 29 from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. If you are looking for something to do with your young children this summer, visit the drop-in play group.

Summer Preschool Story Time: Tuesdays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 10-10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Room. The six-week program features stories, songs and fun.

Messy Art Workshops: Thursday, July 7, from 9:15-10:15 and 10:45-11:45 a.m. Heather and Laurie will lead kids from three to seven years in messy, artistic projects. Kids will make African masks, rain sticks and kinetic art prints. Registration is required.  Free.

Family Concert: West African Drumming: Monday, July 11, from 6-7 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Annegret Baier will present a West African drumming program. Free. After the show children may try out the drums and ask questions of Annegret.

Family Movie: “Peter Pan”: Wednesday, July 13, from 1-3 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Juice and popcorn provided. Parents must remain with their children during the movie. Free.

Parachute Play: Saturday, July 16, from 10-11 a.m. in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. Join Laurie for fun and exercise. Space is limited so preregister. Free.

Origami: Thursday, July 21, from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. Learn how to create Origami treasures with Laurie. This program is geared for kids ages 8-12. Space is limited so preregister. Free.

Family Concert on the Green: “An Evening With Tricky Britches”: Monday, July 25, from 6-7 p.m. on the library lawn. Tricky Britches is an up-and-coming bluegrass band. Free event for all ages. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. In the event of bad weather, the concert will be held indoors in the Androscoggin Community Room.

Games & Crafts From Around the World: Wednesday, July 27, from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. Play hopscotch from Spain or Holland, jump rope from Peru, Chinese jump rope, jacks or make a friendship bracelet from Gambia. Free. For kids ages 5-12.

Family Concert: Judy Pancoast: Thursday, July 28, from 2-3 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Free.

The library has available free and discount family passes to the following Maine museums: Children’s Discovery Museum, Augusta; Children’s Museum of Maine, Portland; Maine Maritime Museum, Bath; Southworth Planetarium, Portland; Portland Museum of Art; Maine Wildlife Park, Gray; Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunkport; and individual passes to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.
