AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced the following July events for adults.
The library will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Library hours are Mondays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For program information or registration call 333-6640 or visit www.auburnpubliclibrary.org.
Prime Time Tuesdays
PrimeTime Tuesdays programs are especially for adults ages 50 and over, but all are invited to join, 2 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room.
The Classic Film Series for Tuesday, July 12, will feature “Cover Girl” (1944), starring Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly. Admission is 50 cents and includes popcorn and punch.
The Classic Film Series for Tuesday, July 19, features “Annie Get Your Gun” (1950), starring Betty Hutton and Howard Keel.
The Classic Film Series for Tuesday, July 26, features “Houseboat” (1958), starring Cary Grant and Sophia Loren.
Brown Bag programs
Brown Bag programs are held from noon to 1 p.m. and are free. Bring a bagged lunch or order out at The Library Cafe.
Wednesday, July 6, will be a live music hour with Neil James in the Grand Reading Room.
Other adult programs
PrimeTime Space touch screen computer help will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays in the PrimeTime Space. Our touch screen computer offers a unique computing experience that is both interactive and intuitive for seniors and visually impaired. The large high definition screen makes it easier to read text and the touch screen frees you from a traditional mouse.
During the month of July, local employees from Bank of America will be on hand every Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the computer lab to answer basic computer questions.
A free Concert on the Green by the 195th Army National Guard Brass Quintet & Saxophone Quartet will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 8. Bring blankets and lawn chairs; no seating will be provided. In case of bad weather, this program will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room.
A free, all-family Concert on the Green, “An Evening with Tricky Britches,” will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 25, on the library lawn. Tricky Britches is an up-and-coming bluegrass band that has been garnering rave reviews. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. In the event of bad weather, the concert will be held indoors in the Androscoggin Community Room.
A job search skills workshop will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, in the library conference room. Learn how to conduct an effective job search by understanding how employers advertise and which search methods lead to success. This workshop is presented by the Lewiston Career Center and Auburn Public Library. The workshop is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required.
For teens and young adults (ages 16-24), a program on Job Corps in Maine will be presented from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 27, in the library conference room. Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps will explain how the program works and who is eligible. Space is limited; advance registration is required.
A workshop on resumes and interviews will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, in the library conference room. This workshop is presented by the Lewiston Career Center and Auburn Public Library. The workshop is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required.
