AUBURN — Joanne Ruth (Ingram, Mabey) Field, 71, a resident of Hardscrabble Road, Poland, died early Sunday morning, July 3, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn.
She was born Jan. 29, 1940, in Worcester, Mass. to her predeceased parents, Herbert C. Ingram and Ruth M. (Slack, Ingram) Jackson. Joanne and most of her family survived the Worcester tornado in 1953. She was a graduate of The High School of Commerce in Worcester and married Charles N. Mabey Jr. in 1958. After the death of Charles in April 1997, she married George H. Field Sr. in November 2003. She was an active member of Oak Hill Bible Church in Oxford, Mass., for 20 years and most recently of Wayside Bible Baptist Church, where she loved her involvement in missions work.
She enjoyed working in her gardens and on the farm. She was a faithful blood donor to the Red Cross, giving many, many tens of gallons. Her career as a bookkeeper included Mabey Associates, Natick Labs, 20 years of service for the Southern New England District of the Assemblies of God, all in Massachusetts, and most recently, she kept the books at the Field farm in Auburn in the utmost of perfect condition.
She was a giving, loving, accepting, fighting survivor of many trials in her life. She became a beloved member of the Field family, bringing great joy and revitalization to George’s spirit. The thought of others was always foremost in her heart and actions, as she served her family, friends and neighbors. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and faithfully served Him for 37 years.
She is survived by her husband, George H. Field Sr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Joseph Mesite of Oxford, Mass., her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kathy Mabey of Douglas, Mass., her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rhonda Mabey of Hartford, Vt., daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Randall Ames of North Grosvenordale, Conn., son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Lynn Mabey of Live Oak, Fla.; stepson, John Field; stepdaughter, Rhonda Field; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Donna and Matthew Wight; stepdaughter, Cindy Field; stepson, George Field Jr.; stepdaughter, Laura Field; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Kathy and John Bailey; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Glen and Jessica Field; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Sue and Rene Deschane; nine grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Carolyn Ingram of Brownsboro, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Wendell Forsman; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Levi Brown of Salem, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and the Rev. Thomas Thies of San Marcos, Calif.; special aunt, Barbara Slack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Ingram.
