Berry festival
BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield American Legion #58 Post and Auxiliary will hold their annual strawberry festival at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9. There will also be a yard, plant and food sale at the Legion on Maurice Street.
Public supper
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold a public supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9. The menu will be barbecue chicken and beanhole beans with salads, bread and dessert. The cost is $7 person, $3 for children under 12, and $20 maximum for immediate family members.
The beans will be put in on Friday evening with a campfire sing-along and toasted marshmallows from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the pavilion beyond the parking lot.

Sodality raffle
NORWAY — St. Catherine’s Sodality will hold its annual Chinese-auction style summer raffle beginning July 9 and running through July 31, the date of the drawing. You do not need to be present to win.
Prizes include: $200 cash; an Audubon naturalist-narrated puffin watch cruise for a family of four operated by Hardy Boat Cruises out of New Harbor; two Red Sox tickets; a six-person take-out lobster/clam bake dinner from Mac’s Seafood in Auburn; a Tilton’s Meat Market (Buckfield) 12-item “pick your own” meat package ($80 value); and a variety of other items.
Tickets are on sale at the parish office at 32 Paris St., by calling Elaine at 743-2606 or Anne at 739-9661, and at the church after each mass through July 31.

World’s Fair dance
WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair next dance will be Saturday, July 9, at the dance hall at the fairgrounds. The band will be the Road Kingz. This is a BYOB dance and the music will begin at 8 p.m. The price is $10 per person.
The rest of the summer schedule for dances will be July 16, The After Burner; Aug. 6, Monsta; Aug. 20, The Rockin Roadrunners; Sept. 3, Cold Blue Steel; and Sept. 17, Monsta.
Light refreshments will be available at all of the events for a fee and free ice always. The fairgrounds are located on Green Road in North Waterford (across from Melby’s Market). For more information, contact Lisa Scribner at 890-7669.
Shortcake
OTISFIELD – The Otisfield Historical Society will be serving old-fashioned strawberry shortcake from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at their headquarters at the Old Town House on Bell Hill Road.
To help support the society’s ongoing work, they’ll be serving Skeetfield Road strawberries on homemade biscuits topped with real dairy whipped cream, all for $5. Visitors may also want to tour the historic town house, built in 1905 and used by town voters until about 1995.
Nature Club
NORWAY — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at the entrance to Ordway Grove, 32 Pleasant St., for a tour of the grove, a picnic lunch and a tour of Deerwood Gardens, Waterford. Bring lunch. Visitors are welcome.
