ANDOVER — Eleven Andover contractors have committed to providing services for Andover Elementary School’s Contractors Day, Susan Merrow announced at a meeting of Save/Recreate Andover School on Thursday night.
“The date of the Andover Elementary School Contractor’s Day will be set shortly,” she said.
The Andover group is working to keep the school open for at least another year, after the SAD 44 board voted to close it and send the approximately two dozen students to Crescent Park School in Bethel in the fall.
In other meeting news the group announced that:
* The various subcommittees exploring options for Andover Elementary School’s future are making great progress.
* One of the established groups will be meeting with the Maine Department of Education later this summer.
* Andover Elementary School students are welcome to participate in the Save our Andover Elementary School float in the Andover Olde Home Days parade.
* Three more subcommittees have been established to address current needs: After-school Program Committee, Contractors’ Day Committee and Overall Publicity Committee.
* Meetings will continue to be held in the Town Hall every Thursday evening and Andover residents are encouraged to attend. The group welcomes ideas and research assistance.
