WILTON — The library will host a visit with Maine author and illustrator Matt Tavares at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20.

During his Summer Reading Program visit, Tavares will read from his books and describe the writing process. Through a slide presentation, he will show the photographs, sketches and rough drafts that became his final books. The presentation will end with a drawing demonstration and a question-and-answer time.

Readers of all ages are invited to attend.

Tavares has illustrated many children’s books, including “Lady Liberty: A Biography,” by Doreen Rappaport and “The Gingerbread Pirates,” by Kristin Kladstrup.

He is the author of several picture books including “Zachary’s Ball,” “Henry Aaron’s Dream,” and “Oliver’s Game.”

Since several of his books are related to baseball, participants are invited to wear baseball caps.
