It is believed by the people in the vicinity of North Auburn and Turner that Frederick Reynolds, the murderer who escaped from the Maine Insane Hospital at Augusta last Sunday night is somewhere in that vicinity. The people around that part of the lake are thoroughly convinced that he was seen there on Thursday afternoon and evening and one of the storekeepers at North Auburn informed The Sun last evening that he has sent to the city for a new supply of padlocks to supply his customers.
50 years ago, 1961
Lewiston police were asked yesterday morning to look for David Adams, three-year-old son of Edward Adams of Bridge St., who had disappeared from his neighborhood. Auburn police found him walking on Summer Street about an hour later. Auburn authorities said the youngster had walked across the Maine Central Railroad trestle, a dangerous trip for a small fellow.

Lumber World has invited Lewiston building inspection and code enforcement staff to present an overview in the permitting process, along with related codes and ordinances. The purpose is to give contractors a better understanding of the city’s inspection program and for city officials to better understand contractor’s needs and concerns.
