BRUNSWICK — Martha S. Lucas, 79, of Lisbon, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, in Brunswick at Midcoast Hospital with family at her side.

She was born in West Warwick, R.I., March 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Ovila and Jeannette (Lavoie) Messier. Martha graduated from West Warwick High School in 1951, and from Rittner’s School of Floral Design in Boston in 1952. On Feb. 6, 1953, she married Raymond Dumont Lucas.

Martha was a member of American Legion Unit 158, was a charter member of VFW Unit 9459 Auxiliary, both in Lisbon and was a lifetime member of the Lisbon Left Hand Club Auxiliary.

She was a member of Riverside Snowmobile Club, Wire Bridge Snow Travelers, Mid Maine Motorcycle Club and Maine Retreads, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society in Maine and Florida. Martha was a devote Catholic and was a member of Holy Trinity Rosary Club. Martha and Raymond were snowbirds and would travel to their home in Zephyrhills, Fla., for the past eight years. Martha enjoyed spending time with her family, and will be missed by all.

Martha leaves her husband, Raymond D. Lucas of Lisbon; two daughters, Janet Devou of Portland and Barbara Lamarre and husband, Maurice, of Brunswick; a son, Richard F. Lucas of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Patrick Devou and Mary Devou, both of Portland, Timothy Lamarre and his wife, Michaela, of Yarmouth and Adam Lamarre of Somerville, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Mac Bucklin and Grace Lamarre; two brothers, Arthur Messier and his wife, Carol, of Coventry, R.I., and Roland Messier and his wife, Janet, of Virginia; Martha also leaves behind nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was predeceased by two brothers, James Bailleul and Maurice Messier.
